Early Career Teachers
Early Career Teachers (ECTs) at Wright Robinson receive high-quality support to enable them to meet the challenges that often present in the early years of teaching. ECTs who join us are all invited to an induction day prior to their start date. This day ensures that ECTs have a smooth transition to their role at Wright Robinson and become familiar with the school vision and context, as well as understanding our key policies and procedures towards teaching and learning and behaviour.
All ECTs have an individual Induction Mentor who shares the same subject specialism. This ensures that our ECTs receive one-to-one support and mentoring through their first two years of teaching. ECTs have a weekly timetabled meeting with mentors to follow the ECF and to discuss day to day issues.
ECTs receive a 10% reduction in their timetable in Year 1 and a 5% reduction in Year 2.
ECTs follow the Early Career Framework and participate in termly training sessions with The East Manchester Teaching Hub - our delivery partner. In school, ECTs are overseen by a Senior Leader with whom they meet regularly to ensure that they are fully supported and on target to meet their individual goals. In addition, ECTs follow a specific Professional Learning programme, specific to the context of Wright Robinson and our vision of teaching and learning.
ECTs are supported in their completion of the Early Career Framework and receive regular observations and feedback to support their development.
