Teacher of SEN with responsibility to develop Literacy and Numeracy
TLR 2 A - £2,535
Temporary for 1 year
We require a suitably qualified and experienced teacher to work with our SENCO to improve Literacy and Numeracy skills for pupils who experience learning difficulties.
The successful applicant will be required to teach the entire age and ability range across KS3 and 4 and we would like you to start work as soon as possible.
This is a newly created post to support the ‘narrowing the gap’ agenda and to ensure that all pupils have the necessary skills required to make appropriate progress.
Wright Robinson is an 11-16 co-educational school. Ofsted has described our curriculum as “outstanding”.
The successful candidate will have a full teaching timetable and be required to do the set up, delivery and monitoring of the following types of literacy and numeracy intervention to embed the core skills with students to enable them to be more successful across the curriculum:
1. 1:1 with students on reading with our lowest level literacy/reading ages in school.
2. Small group intervention for literacy and numeracy to raise standards.
3. Support for teaching staff on how to differentiate for students and the level of work that is appropriate for them through department meetings and whole school inset.
4. Support and skilling up of Teaching Assistants.
5. Run parenting courses on supporting low level literacy and numeracy and to also improve adult literacy and numeracy.
