History

Over the years Wright Robinson has been at the heart of Manchester sport. In 1997 the governing body was successful in its bid to the Department for Education and Skills to be one of the first Specialist Sports Colleges in the country, culminating in an association with the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

In 2001, the college installed a new ICT curriculum system and specialist GNVQ teaching areas.

In 2007 the college moved out of its old buildings and into a brand new building on adjacent grounds. The £43m college was the most expensive school or college ever built in Europe.
