In preparation for the forthcoming Primary Talent Evening to be held on 9th March 2006 at 7pm, Wright Robinson Specialist College student, Ashley Mellon Yr9 was invited back to his Primary School, St Clements,to sing for the children during an Assembly. The first part of the assembly was dedicated to The Leprosy Mission who asked the children to donate used stamps to their appeal to aid Leprosy sufferers in third world countries, so if you have any please take them to St Clements Primary School.
Previously Ashley and other students had attended an audition at Arndale house. He and four other students got through to the final 16. They returned at the weekend and practised all day Saturday then went to Airtight Studios to record and produce a CD. He is keenly supported by Mr Peters, Head of Music, Dave Sewell, Primary Talent Manager and all his family.
At St Clements, Ashley was accompanied by other WRSC students and a medlley of hits from 'Blue' to 'The Sugarbabes' were sung. There were duets from Amie Clarke, Yasmin Quinn, Carly Ashton and Sarah Edwards all from Yr8. The finale was a 'Westlife' hit sang by all 5 students. The mini concert went down a storm with all the primary children singing and waving their arms in the air. Mrs Fitzgerald, Headteacher at St Clements said ' what a wonderful start to the day' and complimented the students on their performances. Below are a selection of pictures from the event.
