The House System

I’m Jireh from 11D2 and I’m Aaliyah from 11C2 and we are both Senior Prefects here at Wright Robinson College. We wanted to share with you the new House System that has been introduced at WRC. The House System has been designed to create smaller families within the school and each House will consist of students from Year 7 – 11. This will also mean that the Houses can compete against each other in challenges throughout the school in all different departments.
There are 8 Houses and each House has been assigned a colour and a name of an inspirational person who has had a big impact on the world. The inspirational characters were decided by the students as part of their Student Council meetings. All senior prefects now have responsibility for being a House Captain. We are both from King House along with Anthony. As House Captains we represent our House in meetings, we lead House Assemblies once every half term and we will be setting challenges for everyone.
Every student can earn House Points around the school as a reward for good work, improvement or showing a good attitude. Once a fortnight in PE we have Inter-House lessons where we compete against other Houses in the year group in various sports and activities. Already this half term we have had two House competitions, the first was called ‘Pay It Forward’ where House points were given for random acts of kindness to others around the College. Over the past couple of weeks Houses have been competing to design anti-bullying posters. The posters will be used around the College as part of Anti-Bullying Week, the winners will be announced soon. We are looking forward to getting involved in lots more House
